Click HERE to read the article that came out yesterday stating that the new triple combo drug for CF has been accepted by the FDA. This is big news for the CF community. There are 2 other newer drugs called Orkambi and, the newest, Symdeko as well. This new drug is another step in the right direction. I qualify for it because I have 2 copies of the delta f508 mutation. Supposedly it should help about 90% of the CF community.
If you have been following my blog for awhile you know that I didn’t tolerate Orkambi. It gave me major chest tightness and shortness of breath after one dose. I also tried Symdeko and it messed with my depression and how my antidepressants were absorbed. I was only on it for about 4 months I think. If I try this new triple combo I will have to keep a watchful eye on my depression and monitor my antidepressant levels. It makes me nervous because it was not pretty when the Symdeko messed with my antidepressants. I do not want to relive that if at all possible. I’m leaning towards trying it and just being very careful on the depression front. We shall see.
Health update: I’ve been doing decent. My lungs are not a fan of the heat and humidity so I’ve been having a little harder time breathing and coughing a little bit more and harder which is no fun. My chest has been tight and wheezy. I’ve been doing more treatments to help. My pulled muscle is much better. I still have pains every once in awhile but compared to what it was, it is much better. I will always have problems with my left side. It’s been my problem side for awhile. I think that’s all for now.
Until next time…
